Enhanced CPD for the GDC: development outcomes

For dentists, dental nurses, hygienists and therapists.

What the General Dental Council asks for

The GDC requires at least one outcome per activity. You can pick several.

Source: GDC’s own guidance. Where this page and your regulator disagree, your regulator is right — we are not your regulator and do not speak for one.

What each activity is recorded against

The GDC requires at least one outcome per activity. You can pick several.

  • A — Effective communication with patients, the dental team and others across dentistry, including when obtaining consent, dealing with complaints, and raising concerns when patients are at risk
  • B — Effective management of self and effective management of others or effective work with others in the dental team, in the interests of patients; providing constructive leadership where appropriate
  • C — Maintenance and development of knowledge and skill within your field of practice
  • D — Maintenance of skills, behaviours and attitudes which maintain patient confidence in you and the dental profession and put patients’ interests first

Common questions

Does every activity need a development outcome?

Yes — the GDC requires at least one per activity, and an activity may map to several. This app treats a missing outcome as an incomplete entry rather than a formatting preference.
